United Airlines cancels 9/11 memorial jumbo jet city flyover due to ‘concerns in the community’

United Airlines has good reason to memorialize 9/11, as United Airlines Flight 175 was the second aircraft to strike the World Trade Center. Later that day, United Airlines Flight 93 crashed into a field after passengers and crew fought back against the hijackers. In total, the company lost 18 employees, including pilots and crew.

And so, to mark 25 years since 9/11, the company unveiled a memorial event “to honor and remember the lives lost on Sept. 11, 2001.” As per The Denver Post, this was intended to consist of a Boeing 777 flying at a lower-than-usual altitude over Denver with a fighter plane escort.
