The owner of P&O Ferries has got off “scot-free” for firing 800 workers, after the group reported record profits on Thursday, according to union bosses.
DP World said that it had made a profit of £736m over the six months to the end of June - up more than 51% over the year - as it focused on shipping cargo with higher profit margins.
“We are delighted to report a record set of first half results,” said chair and chief executive Sultan Ahmed Bin Sulayem.
