Unhappy Nottingham shopper says 'something needs to be done' after supply shortage at local store

An unhappy shopper says "something needs to be done" about a supply problem which has led to empty shelves at his local store. Morrisons Daily, which is located on Ash Crescent in Nuthall, Nottingham, has been experiencing problems with its supplier temporarily which has meant certain products aren't available.

Phil Turner, 73, who lives nearby, has been going to the shop for over three years - and says something needs to be done quickly to rectify the situation. Mr Turner said: "I don't think they are getting enough deliveries, I think that is the problem.

"You go in and half of the shelves are completely empty, there's never enough in. A lot of elderly people live locally and use that shop - these are people who live on their own, who need to be able to pick things up near to where they live. A lot of them don't drive.

He added: "The staff are always very helpful, but there's never anything in. I went to get bread but they didn't have any Hovis white bread, only 50/50. That's how bad the organisation is - the shelves are still empty. There's fresh produce, but half of it is reduced because it's about to go out of date. So clearly it's still an issue."

McColl's, the company which runs the store, admitted there has been issues recently, and has promised to try and sort the problem out as quickly as possible, working with its supplier Morrisons.

A McColl’s spokesperson: “We are currently experiencing low levels of availability on certain product lines at our Morrisons Daily store in Ash Crescent, Nuthall. We are working closely with our wholesale supply partner, Morrisons, to rectify this temporary matter and ensure we can meet the demand from our customers in Nuthall.”
