'Unexplained' death as Scottish man's body found one year after disappearance

A BODY has been found in the search for a Scots man who was first reported missing more than a year ago.

Harry MacDonald, 59, was last seen in Portree in Skye around 10am on Wednesday, September 21 2022.

Police Scotland officers have now confirmed a body was found in a wooded area west of Portree around 3pm on Tuesday, December 12.

Formal identification is still to take place although MacDonald’s family has been informed.

The death is still being treated as unexplained pending further enquiries.

A Police Scotland statement said: “Around 3pm on Tuesday, December 12 2023, a body was found in a wooded area, west of Portree on Skye.

“Formal identification has yet to take place but the family of Harry MacDonald, reported missing in the area in September 2022, has been informed.

“The death is currently being treated as unexplained pending further enquiries. A report will be sent to the Procurator Fiscal.”
