Undersized NBA Great Surprised to Learn He Leads Kevin Durant in Key Career Stat

Muggsy Bogues was always a fan favorite during his playing days. The 5’3” guard played well above his height and apparently has outdone Kevin Durant in one key statistic where height is—almost—everything.

While appearing on The Hoop Chat, Bogues was asked what his thoughts were on having a better offensive rebound percentage than Durant when comparing career averages. He couldn’t help but laugh but answered with some humility and a bit of surprise.

“Even though I was a small guard, I always got those long rebounds,” Bogues said.  “I chased them down, I was in the right place at the right time, but I didn’t know my percentage was better than Kevin Durant.”

Bogues had a career average of 2.3% while Durant, who stands roughly nine inches taller than Bogues, averaged 2.2%. Durant still has some time to tie Bogues at the very least, but he’ll have to put some more work in on the offensive glass. It’s worth noting that for his career, Durant is averaging 0.7 offensive rebounds per game while Bogues grabbed 0.6 offensive boards a game during his time in the NBA.
