Under fire Graham Potter issues warning to his Chelsea side ahead of Leeds United clash

Chelsea head coach Graham Potter has warned his side that they need to prepare for the "intensity" of Leeds United ahead of their Premier League clash with the Whites at Stamford Bridge on Saturday afternoon.

Potter comes into the game against Leeds under an intense amount of scrutiny over his future at the club. Chelsea have been in a miserable vein of form this calendar year, scoring just four goals in 2023.

And last month has been especially poor for Chelsea as they failed to win a single match in February with, scoring one goal in five games. Defeat to Leeds could see them drop into the bottom-half of the table depending on Aston Villa's result against Crystal Palace.

Javi Gracia will be looking for his side to repeat their last league performance in the 1-0 win over Southampton, who were also the last oppostion to take on the Blues at Stamford Bridge, where the Saints were this time on the right end of a 1-0 scoreline.

Speaking ahead of Saturday's game against the Whites, Potter has warned his squad that they need to be prepared for a breathless game against Gracia's side.

"That's always the approach," the Chelsea coach said when asked if he will tell his squad to be confident against Leeds. "But sometimes these things happen. The Premier League is the best league in the world because anyone can beat anyone.

"The focus is on us being positive. We've been fighting this week to prepare well so we can give a performance our supporters are happy with.

"We know Leeds historically, since they've been in the Premier League, they have always played with that intensity. So that's something we have to deal with.

"Every team has a moment when it's difficult and moments when it's going well," he added. "We have to keep working, stick together, and believe we can turn it around.
