TORONTO: Deniz Undav scored two goals off the bench as Germany pulled off ‌a thrilling comeback to beat Ivory Coast 2-1 in their World Cup Group E match on Saturday, securing their place in the ⁠knockout stage for the first time since they won the title in 2014.

Germany had the ball ‌in the back of the net before the first hydration break but a foul on Ivory Coast ⁠goalkeeper Yahia Fofana kept the game scoreless, though not for long. Shortly after play resumed, Ivory Coast captain Franck Kessie poked the ball past Manuel Neuer for the lead.
