LUCKNOW: Uttar Pradesh chief minister Yogi Adityanath on Tuesday termed the unanimous election of eight-time BJP MLA Satish Mahana as state assembly speaker as a fitting case of leaders of various political parties, despite their ideological difference, coming together to strengthen the democratic values and principles.
"This can happen only in India and especially in UP," Yogi said, soon after Mahana was chosen as the 18th speaker of the UP legislative assembly. It was a momentous occasion as CM Yogi and SP chief Akhilesh Yadav accompanied Mahana to the high chair in the house. Legislative party leaders of Congress, Aradhan Mishra Mona and BSP's Uma Shankar Singh too followed suit.
