A charity boxing match will go ahead as planned in the North East despite the death of a participant in Nottingham.
Police have confirmed a student died after being injured while participating in one of the opening bouts of an event organised by Ultra White Collar Boxing at Harvey Hadden Sports Village on March 25.
Ultra White Collar Boxing holds black tie events across the UK to raise money for charity, with one scheduled to take place in Gateshead on April 1.

Organisers have confirmed the event at the Lancastrian Suite will still take place.
A spokesperson for Ultra White Collar Boxing said: “Everyone at Ultra White Collar Boxing was deeply saddened to hear of the tragic death of one of our participants, who took part in our Nottingham event on Saturday, March 25. Our thoughts are very much with his family and friends at this difficult time.
“We are in close contact with his family and continue to offer them all the support we can.
“With investigations now underway by the relevant authorities, it would be inappropriate to comment further at this stage.”
The Ultra White Collar Boxing website says spectators can enjoy an evening of boxing and support boxers who have trained hard for 8 weeks to step in the ring and raise money for charity, with more than £28 million raised for Cancer Research UK.
Nottinghamshire Police said an investigation is now underway to establish what happened.
Detective Inspector Chris Berryman, of Nottinghamshire Police, said: “Officers attended Harvey Hadden Sports Village on Saturday, March 25 with partners including East Midlands Ambulance Service. A man was left seriously injured following a boxing match and transported to Queen’s Medical Centre.
“Since the incident, his condition deteriorated and he has sadly passed away. Our thoughts are with all of his family and friends at this difficult time.
"We are keeping an open mind and working with the coroner to establish what has happened.”
