Dan Soper wants Ulster to keep the pursuit for a home quarter-final in the URC in their own hands starting with Saturday's rearranged fixture against the Sharks in Durban.
Ulster currently lie in third place in the table following last week's 17-11 defeat by Glasgow and the assistant coach insists they do not want to have to rely on other teams in the battle for places for the end-of-season play-offs.
"For the neutral the league is exciting but it is still in our control," said Soper.
