Ulrika Jonsson slams Molly-Mae Hague's 'worryingly insulting' poverty comments

Ulrika Jonsson doesn't appear to be a big fan of Molly-Mae Hague.

The ex-Love Islander, 22, angered fans when she claimed she was the creative director of a million pound fashion company because she 'worked her a**e off'.

Molly was slammed by her followers for her 'tone-deaf' comments and now former face of Gladiators, Ulrika, 54, has weighed in on the action.

She accused the influencer of being "famous by chance", citing Love Island as the main reason why she shot to stardom.

Referencing a YouTube video in which Molly complains that finding venues for her Pretty Little Thing gigs was "a lot of work", Ulrika fumed that "it was worryingly insulting on many levels.

"There are a lot of incredibly hardworking young people out there. Often, these dedicated youngsters have fought hard against a tide of deprivation," she wrote in her column for The Sun.

"For many others – like Molly-Mae, who just by chance became famous as a vlogger and then went on to gain even more notoriety by appearing on Love Island courtesy of a pretty face and a love of fashion – working hard amounts fundamentally to doing “nothing".

"These people are paid money for just existing, and it is this which troubles me."

The Celebs Go Dating star continued that she was sick of all the positive affirmations about believing in dreams and manifesting, saying they were total "lies".

Ulrika also admitted she was worried for the next generation who look up to people like Molly and Kim Kardashian and think all they have to do is "prance and pose" to make it to the top.

Molly is currently sunning herself in Mexico posing up a storm on the beach as she flogs her Pretty Little Thing range with a new photoshoot.

Before jumping on the plane, Molly admitted to fans that she was anxious about sharing content from her trip abroad in light of the current crisis in Ukraine – where Russian forces have invaded the country.

However, perhaps in light of her poverty comments, the influencer decided to let her fans decide whether it would be infra dig to post photos of her living her best life under the Mexican sun.

After some deliberation, many of the influencer's fans decided the snaps would be a welcome distraction - and so Molly hit publish.
