Ukrainian refugees to be moved out of student accommodation by September

Ukrainian refugees residing in student accommodation will be moved out before the new college term begins in September, Minister for Further Education Simon Harris has said.

The already constrained rental housing supply in Dublin is expected to become a lot worse when students return in their droves to the capital to study. Minister Harris said the Department of Integration is working on alternative accommodation for these refugees.

The Fine Gael Minister said student accommodation is not suitable for fleeing refugees. He said: "I think it is important that student accommodation is for students and it's important that families and children can live in an environment that is appropriate to them.
