Ukrainian food festival coming to Edinburgh city centre with traditional pies

An ‘unforgettable culinary journey’ is coming to Edinburgh’s city centre, bringing the ‘traditional flavours’ of Ukraine.

Intertwined, described as an ‘immersive and unique’ event, is coming to the Parish Church of St Cuthbert on June 3. In the historic church, visitors will have the chance to sample authentic, traditional cuisine from a skilled team of chefs.

The fair is part of a bigger fundraising event, looking to support the people of Ukraine as the conflict with Russia continues. Later in the evening, at the same venue, the Intertwined Melodies concert will ‘bring together Ukrainian and Scottish cultures’.

Ahead of the events, organisers said: “Our team of skilled chefs, Natali Lyalyuk and Diana from Diana's Delicious Bakery, will meticulously craft a selection of exquisite dishes, showcasing the essence of traditional Ukrainian cuisine.

“Prepared using authentic, locally-sourced ingredients, each dish will be a true testament to the culinary excellence of Ukraine. Diana's Delicious Bakery in Edinburgh is famous for offering a wide variety of cakes, cupcakes, and sweet treats for any occasion.

“Natali Lyalyuk, the very passionate Ukrainian folk artist and a public figure, festivals organiser and national record setter in Ukraine. She is a Ukrainian cultural heritage researcher. During the “Intertwined Melodies” concert she will speak to our guests about the unique Yavoriv traditional decorative painting and tasty Yavoriv pie.”

Speaking on the Intertwined Melodies concert, they added: “We are proud to present a unique collaboration between Ukrainian refugees and Scottish people, the remarkable artists who have joined forces for a great purpose.

“You will be touched by moving story of Svitlana Iniakoviene, the event organiser, whose brother is at the frontline. Incredible story of human support, sacrifice and strength.”
