Parts of Russia are experiencing severe fuel shortages, with gas stations running dry in some regions, following recent Ukrainian drone attacks on the country's oil infrastructure. This has led to motorists facing long queues, while local officials have resorted to rationing or completely halting fuel sales.
The crisis is exacerbated by soaring wholesale prices for A-95 petrol on the St. Petersburg International Mercantile Exchange, which last week hit record highs, approximately 50 per cent above January levels. The price surge comes amid high demand from farmers needing fuel for the harvest and Russians embarking on their final major summer holidays.
