An overnight drone attack carried out by Ukrainian forces successfully targeted and destroyed an ammunition depot in the western Russian region of Tver. According to a source from Ukraine’s Security Service (SBU), the attack specifically aimed at the Russian defense ministry-operated warehouse in Toropets, which housed Iskander tactical missile systems, Tochka-U tactical missile systems, guided aerial bombs, and artillery ammunition.

The strike resulted in large fires erupting from the debris of the drones, which were reportedly repelled by local air defenses. In response to the situation, the regional government ordered a partial evacuation of the area under the direction of Governor Igor Rudenya during the early hours of Wednesday morning.

Local air defenses repelled the drones, causing large fires in the depot.

Footage circulating on social media, verified by sources, depicted intense detonations and multiple structures within the depot complex engulfed in flames. Governor Rudenya’s decision to evacuate the area was made to facilitate the efforts of emergency services in containing the fires, as stated by the local government on its official Telegram channel.

The Ukrainian security source revealed that such attacks are part of a systematic strategy to diminish Russia’s missile capabilities. Plans for additional strikes on similar Russian military facilities are reportedly in progress, indicating a continued effort to disrupt and degrade Russia’s military infrastructure.
