A large crowd turned out at a vigil in support of the Ukraine people last night.
Supporters gathered on the green outside Morgan Academy to call for peace and standing against the horrific war.
The distinctive blue and yellow Ukrainian national flag was projected on the school building to keep up awareness around the conflict where citizens are being bombed in their homes, places of work and schools.
Speaking at the gathering, a spokesman for the Stobswell Forum said they believe that in 2022 “children shouldn’t be forced to face this type of trauma anywhere in the world.”
And they added: “We aren’t powerless, this city, this community aren’t powerless - our communities can change things for the better.
"I’ve had come inspiring conversations over the last 24 hours with many people who just want to help, what’s happening in Ukraine isn’t right and must stop now.
"With this act of solidarity with the people of Ukraine, we remind all members of the Morgan Academy and Stobswell community that we are not powerless.
“Our communities can change things for the better.”
Vigil organisers hoped that with modern communications and social media the Morgan Academy event would be seen by some people in Ukraine
The Stobswell Forum spokesman expressed thanks the Morgan Academy, AudioWAVE and the DISC Target Project for making the vigil happen.
A total of £522 was raised by those who braved the atrocious weather conditions to be present.
- Morgan Academy are currently raising funds for the International Red Cross relief efforts in Ukraine.
Donations can be made on the night or online here.
