Ukraine strikes key Russian targets in bid to dismantle Putin’s war effort

  • Volodymyr Zelensky confirmed Ukrainian forces carried out deep strikes hitting a Russian oil facility in the Samara region.
  • The attacks follow recent pressure from US president Donald Trump urging Kyiv to cease targeting Russian energy infrastructure.
  • Ukrainian forces also struck a Black Sea target, a drone launch site in Oryol, and an enemy supply depot in Bryansk.
  • Zelensky praised defence workers and pledged to continue dismantling Russia 's capacity to sustain the war effort.
  • It came as the UK announced 31 new sanctions against Russian individuals and businesses linked to Kremlin disinformation and war funding.
