Ukraine President Volodymyr Zelenskyy on DWTS goes viral amid ferocious Kyiv battle

A montage of the Ukrainian President's performances on Dancing With The Stars has gone viral as he helps defend Kyiv amongst his troops in a fierce battle against Putin.

War rages on in the Ukrainian capital, with small arms fire and rockets being heard throughout last night as Russian troops continue to fail in their efforts to seize the city.

Volodymyr Zelenskyy's defiance in the face of Russia's full scale invasion - with the president himself refusing to leave for his own safety and taking up arms amongst his own soldiers - has seen him praised globally as a "true leader".

Yet, prior to his political career, Zelensky was an actor and actually starred in a TV show where a history teacher accidentally became the President of Ukraine.

And unbelievably, back in 2006, Zelenskyy appeared in and won the Ukrainian version of Dancing With The Stars.

A video of Zelenskyy's incredible dancing on the show has gone viral, showing him Waltzing, doing the Paso Doble and even performing blindfolded.

Sharing the clip on Twitter, a social media user wrote: "so apparently Zelenskyy won the Ukrainian version of Dancing with the Stars in 2006 and the tape is even better than whatever you're imagining."

While another commented: "zelenskyy could ride on a horse shirtless but putin could never pull off a white striped suit with a matching fedora."

A third wrote: "He can dance, he can act, he can lead a country, he can stand in defiance against Russian forces. Not only is he incredibly talented, but he's also one of the most courageous leaders on the planet."

Posting a photo of Zelenskyy clothed in armoured gear, another tweeted: "It’s difficult to reconcile that this is the same man. Over the last 48 hours, I believe most of us have found a new favorite foreign leader. Praying he and his country will survive."

It comes after Zelenskyy allegedly refused calls from the American government to let them evacuate him to ensure his safety, telling them "the fight is here".

He said: "The fight is here; I need ammunition, not a ride", according to a senior American intelligence official with direct knowledge of the conversation.
