The Head of the Office of the President of Ukraine has mocked NATO's response to the Russian invasion during a video meeting with a former US Ambassador.
Andriy Yermak - a Ukrainian film producer, lawyer and current Head of the Presidential Administration - was meeting with the Atlantic Council, a non-governmental US 'think tank', and its regional director John Herbst, who was the US Ambassador to Ukraine between 2003 and 2006. Mr Yermak said that the "people of Ukraine are grateful to our American friends for all the help you provide" - but suggested Russia's tanks would have already reached Dunkirk if NATO was defending Europe from an attack by Putin's military.
"Yesterday, after the NATO summit I was told a joke," said Mr Yermak. "The NATO acronym stands for Never Act, Talk Only. They say the joke is so old that it should be called vintage."
