US President Joe Biden branded Vladimir Putin a “war criminal” on Wednesday in his strongest comments yet on the Russian leader.

Mr Biden, who has previously declined to say whether the Russian army was guilty of war crimes, made the remarks in response to a reporter’s question at the White House.
