Defense Minister Nobuo Kishi met with Ukrainian Ambassador Sergiy Korsunsky on Wednesday to inform the diplomat that Japan on Tuesday had sent bulletproof vests and other Self-Defense Forces equipment to the European nation.

"We will be happy if our support brings some assistance to Ukraine," Kishi said.
