UK weather forecast: Heavy snow in brutal -11C blast as Met Office gives latest update

Brits are set to face eight inches of snow falling with flurries up and down the country in a -11C Arctic blast next week.

The Met Office has said that there is now an increased chance of freezing temperatures and snow due to a high pressure system moving north and allowing cold air to come down from the Arctic.

A new Beast from the East was a possibility for March due to the phenomenon of Sudden Stratospheric Warming (SSW) where wind direction changes over the North Pole and can lead to freezing conditions in the UK.
