Brits are set for a return of blistering temperatures which could get as high as 40C from July 12.
Provisional data from the Met Office shows that this June has been the hottest ever in the UK and there is more warm weather to come.
There have been long spells of warm weather for sun lovers with temperatures in the mid to high 20Cs and again into the 30Cs last Monday.
Heavy showers and storms have also hit and there are more to come for this week along with milder conditions.
But come next month and forecasters are predicting another heatwave.
And they could even beat last year’s record-breaking 40.3C seen in Lincolnshire.
The Met Office said indications for “above-average temperatures are stronger” from July 12 to July 26 “meaning the occurrence of heatwaves carries a correspondingly higher likelihood”.
Met Office meteorologist Jonathan Vautrey told The Mirror: “Towards the middle to the end of July there is an increasing chance that high pressure may become established.
“On balance northern areas are more likely to see drier conditions with southern areas seeing greater risk of showers and thunderstorms.
“We can say there is a greater than normal chance of heat waves for the whole period of the middle to the end of July.”
A heatwave is above 25C for three days or 28C for the southeast. Next week, the BBC is forecasting London will reach highs of 25C from Wednesday, July 5.
“Because of the change in climate our extreme temperatures are continuously being pushed,” he said. “There is an increasing chance these extremes could get pushed further.
“We got 40C last year and before that happened no one thought there was an outside chance. There’s also a possibility we do continue to see those trends.”
The Weather Company, branded the world’s most accurate forecaster, also says further heatwaves are expected in early and late July.
Before that though the outlook over the coming days are more typical for the time of year. After today when the mercury may well peak at 25C in the south east of England it will get milder but still fairly warm in the high teens and low 20Cs.
And BBC weather's forecast going into the weekend states: "Windy on Friday, with cloud and rain moving across the north and west, but drier in the south-east, albeit cloudy.
"Breezy on Saturday with early rain clearing the south-east, leaving sunny spells for most. Blustery showers in the north-west, some thundery locally. Windy for most, especially in the north-west where further blustery showers will develop. Drier elsewhere."
