UK visa applications down by over 100,000 amid stricter immigration rules

UK visa applications from foreign skilled workers and health staff dropped significantly last year after stricter immigration controls were enforced, new data has revealed.

There were 61,000 people who applied for a care worker visa in 2025, either as a main applicant or dependant, down 51% on the 123,300 in the 12 months to December 2024.
