UK tourist in 120m death plunge from cliffs on Balearic holiday island

A 55-year-old British tourist has died after tragically plunging hundreds of feet from cliffs on a popular Spanish holiday island. The victim, initially thought to be from Lebanon, but later confirmed as a UK passport-holder, was on holiday with his family from London.

The man was walking near the La Mola Lighthouse in Formentera when he tripped and fell about 120metres on to rocks at about 1.30pm on Tuesday, local newspaper Diario de Ibiza reported. Emergency services were alerted but where unable to locate the victim.

Medics on board an air ambulance were sent to the scene along with local Police, Guardia Civil, and firefighters. Drones and officers on jet skis were also involved in attempts to locate the man..
