THE UK has threatened to expel Israeli diplomats from the country amid an escalation in tensions following a UK ban on trade with illegal Israeli settlements.

It comes after Israel said it would shut the UK consulate on Thursday this week in response to the ban, which followed a 2024 International Court of Justice ruling that Israel's occupation of Palestinian land was unlawful and states have a duty to refrain from any dealings with Israel relating to occupied Palestinian land.
