Britain's Super League has revealed it has received an investment offer from NRL overlords as Australian involvement in British rugby league's premier tournament appeared to move a significant step closer.

Talks have been going on for months between representatives of the Australian and British games but Thursday's news represented the first time a formal offer has been received by Super League.
