UK:Stalker: Sabrina Carpenter granted restraining order

Sabrina Carpenter has been granted a permanent restraining order against a man who was arrested at her Los Angeles home but continued to return.

The Please Please hitmaker had sought protection from William Applegate, who was apprehended by police on her property, and again the following day.

Now a Los Angeles County Superior Court judge has ordered the 31-year-old to stay 100m away from Carpenter, her sister Sarah, and Sarah's boyfriend George for the next five years.

Applegate testified at the hearing to oppose the request for the restraining order, but failed to persuade the judge, TMZ reports.

The 27-year-old singer was granted a temporary restraining order at the start of this month after her team filed for protection on May 19.

In a declaration included in the filing, Carpenter's team said: "It was clear to (her) that his approach was deliberate, calculated and aggressive, which is deeply alarming."

According to the filing, Applegate allegedly arrived at the Espresso hitmaker's Los Angeles residence on May 23 without invitation or notice before law enforcement officers attended the scene and arrested him.

The filing alleges Applegate returned to the property less than 24 hours later.

He is said to have left after being confronted by security staff.

According to the documents, Applegate allegedly returned again on May 25, apparently prompting another police response.

Photographs showing a man standing at Carpenter's front door were also reportedly included in the court filing.

Carpenter said in her declaration: "William Applegate is a complete stranger to me. I have never met him or communicated with him in any way. I have no desire to meet him or communicate with him."

Applegate later asked the court to deny the permanent order, arguing Carpenter didn't want it because it had been "brought against (her) will by her employed security group and the Los Angeles Police Department in conjunction with her legal team as an artefact of a military government program's maligned instructions."

He alleged Carpenter and her family "knew about (his) presence outside her residence as soon as it began in April", and that her performances at Coachella festival in April were "made for and directed at me".
