UK's Prince William and his wife Kate Middleton's first joint portrait released

The first official joint portrait of UK's Prince William and his wife Kate Middleton was released at Cambridge university’s Fitzwilliam Museum on June 23, 2022. Prince William and Kate are the current Duke and Duchess of Cambridge.

Both William and Kate viewed the portrait during their visit to the museum on June 23, 2022. Sharing the news, they posted on their official Twitter profile:

The portrait is painted by artist Jamie Coreth. "As it is the first portrait to depict them together, and specifically during their time as The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, I wanted the image to evoke a feeling of balance between their public and private lives," Coreth said about the new portrait, as reported by Reuters.

It's noted that William is the second in line to UK's throne, after his father Prince Charles.

Earlier this year, three new portraits of The Duchess of Cambridge were released ahead of her 40th birthday. They are a part of the permanent collection of the National Portrait Gallery, of which Kate is a Patron.

Meanwhile, the UK's Queen Elizabeth II turned 96 years old this year. She has ruled the UK for 70 years, which makes her the longest-reigning monarch in the history of Britain.
