UK's most premium mince pie filled with caviar goes on sale for £200 to raise cash for food banks

The Christmas staple the humble mince pie has had a luxurious makeover to help raise cash for food banks across the UK. Glory Stores has launched a limited edition mince pie filled with caviar which has gone on sale for £200 a pop.

Christmas just isn’t complete without a mince pie but Glory Stores, based in Cardiff, has given the traditional festive snack an upmarket revamp - filling it with Imperial Beluga, Husa Husa Sturgeon, known as the "king" of caviar. Glory Stores' classy take on the mince pie is now available online from their website, but it will set you back £200 for a single pie.

While it may seem eye-wateringly expensive, the premium mince pies are made to order - with all profits being donated to the Trussell Trust, an anti-poverty charity that supports a nationwide network of more than 1,300 food bank centres and together they provide emergency food and support to help people facing hardship.

With the cost of living crisis deepening as we head into winter, more and more people are turning to local food banks to get by.

Shaun Houcke, proprietor of Glory Stores said: “We are so excited to launch our limited-edition caviar mince pies. They are made for those with a big love for festive flavours and enjoy an alternative to the traditional tastes.

"At The Glory Stores we believe it is important to give back, particularly at this time of year, which is why we are donating all profits of our caviar pies to the Trussell Trust, who not only do incredible work throughout the festive season, but all year round.”

A single caviar mince pie will cost you £200, but if you're feeling extra fancy, you can pick up a box of five for £1,000, or 12 for £2,000. The Glory Stores website explains: "Our caviar packed take on the traditional mince pie is everything you could want to help make your celebrations this year extra special – for no-nonsense seasonal satisfaction.

"The mince pie is a staple of the traditional Christmas table, having been served during the festive period for centuries, and we do not mess around. We present to you our limited edition mince pies filled with Imperial Beluga – Huso Huso Stugeon – the King of caviar. With all profits going to charity.

"All profits will be donated to The Trussell Trust, who support a nationwide network of food banks and together they provide emergency food and support to people locked in poverty, and campaign for change to end the need for food banks in the UK."
