UK's 'luckiest street' where 19 households have scooped 'life-changing' lottery wins

The UK's luckiest street has been revealed - with 19 households having won 'life-changing' lottery prizes.

Three family members were among the winners from the same house and included a teaching assistant, social care worker and van driver.

People in Orrell, Lancashire, were astonished after scooping a total of £630,000.

The windfall on the People's Postcode Lottery follows the announcement that those in the WN5 0DN postcode area had triumphed winner with the lotto cash

In one street 17 neighbours scooped £30,000 each, while two others on nearby road won £60,000 each after using two tickets.

This win sees the largest number of people in a single postcode pick up cheques for the lottery’s ‘£30,000 Street Prize’ since People’s Postcode Lottery began in 2005.

The Leather family all took £30,000 each and their combined £90,000 win they described as the "best feeling in the world".

Great-grandparents Ian, 67, and wife Susan, 68, said it was "life-changing" and would help make life easier for their own home, but also the wider family.

Sarah Leather, their 42-year-old daughter who lives with them her two teenage children said the experience "completely shocking".

Susan added “We’re bringing up two families in the one house and with the electric and gas prices rising, this is a huge security blanket.”

Ian agreed, he said: “It’s a massive thing. It’ll take the pressure off.”

The retired couple want to used the cash to celebrate their 50th anniversary next year while Susan's 70th birthday is also beckoning which promises to be "extra special" thanks to the cash.

Scott Gregory, 36, a social care worker also collected a cheque for £30,000.

The dad-of-two was "overwhelmed" and admitted the news had still "not sunk in yet".

He decided to join other Postcode Lottery players after his manager recently scooped £30,000 on the draw.

Mr Gregory and his wife plan to to use the windfall to give their two children a sunshine break in addition to shopping trip at at the Trafford Centre in Manchester.

Cheryl Valentine, 42, won £60,000 after a run of bad luck.

She was expected to be on a flight to Tenerife with her mum on when she heard of her good fortune

Their holiday, however, was cancelled three times because of Covid, but at last Cheryl was able enjoy some good luck when she received the phone call from the lottery organisers.

She and her husband Mark want to buy a "cheeky" campervan to take their teenage son and pet on adventures further afield.

Mark Heap, 54 a van drive won £30,000 but did not waste time in using the cash to make plans.

He is taking his his wife Julie on a cruise when they retire with Disneyland also earmarked on the trip.

Joanne Wolf, 54 scooped £60,000 allowing her and fiancé Dean, to finally get hitched.

Elizabeth Pettit, 67, Tracey Morphet, 55, Deborah Moffatt, 55, Sonia Marsden, 29, Roy Fleming, 59, John Ashall, 48, and Wendy Markland, 48 also secured cash from the same street.

Others have also secured windfalls but chose to remain anonymous.
