- The Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office ( FCDO ) has expanded its highest-level travel warning for Venezuela to advise against all travel to Amazonas state.
- The FCDO has also advised British citizens against all travel to areas within 25 miles of Venezuela's border with Colombia.
- Travel warnings remain in place for areas including Zulia and Delta Amacuro due to illegal armed groups.
- British nationals currently in Venezuela have been urged to prepare “personal emergency plans”, with the FCDO warning that UK consular support may be severely limited.
- Although travelling against FCDO advice is not illegal, travellers are warned that doing so is likely to invalidate standard travel insurance policies.
