UK College of Agriculture, Food, and Environment receives largest gift in school history

The University of Kentucky College of Agriculture, Food and Environment has received a $100-million gift. The money comes from The Bill Gatton Foundation. The late Gatton was a UK alum and former trustee. The gift is contingent upon the UK Board of Trustees approving it at its June meeting.

During the announcement, U-K president Eli Capilouto said this money will help the mission of the school.

“Through this gift we will make even further advances in user inspired science that has been a hallmark of this college for more than a century.”

Capilouto said this money will help the college continue to support higher learning.

“Through this gift, we will continue to make progress in constructing the infrastructure essential to support learning and discovery, scholarship and service. That commitment to service is deeply embedded in the very soul of this college.”

The UK president said the gift is the largest to the university in its nearly 160-year history but is also believed to be the largest to a college of agriculture in the country. The college will be renamed the Martin-Gatton College of Agriculture, Food and Environment.
