The UK is being warned to brace for a wave of killer Asian hornets this summer.
They have already been spotted in the Channel Islands earlier this month, signalling a fresh invasion coming over from France. Asian hornet project co-ordinator Francis Russell said the intrusion began when one was caught in Alderney.
A second was was recorded when one was reported dead on the roadside in the village of L’Islet in Guernsey, reports The Star. Both Jersey and Guernsey are seen as the frontline in the fight against the deadly insects and say the increase is caused by them "blowing in" from mainland Europe.
