The UK is “as committed as ever” to protecting shipping in the Red Sea following a strike on an oil tanker, Defence Secretary Grant Shapps has said.

A blaze on British-linked oil tanker the Marlin Luanda in the Gulf of Aden was put out on Saturday after firefighting efforts continued through the night, following a strike by Houthi rebels.
