Detained Ugandan opposition leader Kizza Besigye, 70, has been left unconscious in intensive care after collapsing in a Kampala courtroom on Wednesday, his wife said, as he stands trial on treason charges.

His wife Winnie Byanyima, who also heads the United Nations AIDS programme, posted on social media early on Thursday that her husband had been admitted to an intensive care unit in the capital.
