Conor McGregor has claimed Dustin Poirier didn't land a single calf kick in their trilogy fight - but official stats suggest otherwise.
Former two-weight UFC champion McGregor hasn't fought since losing to Poirier for the second time last July, breaking his leg with just seconds left of the first round. In the Irishman's latest tweet-and-delete spree, he reflected on his third fight with Poirier and comments he made about his rival's leg attacks were disproved.
"I took not one calf kick in the trilogy," McGregor wrote. "Trust me they won't be getting given for free again. Little w***er kicks they are. If you can't kick, kick the calf." But less than a minute into the fight, after McGregor was landing some good kicks of his own, Poirier landed a hard kick to McGregor's calf. 'Notorious' did attempt to check the kick, but he reacted too late as it briefly put him off balance.

Official fight stats also show the kick Poirier landed did connect, with the American attempting one other calf kick in the fight that came up short. Poirier landed more significant strikes than McGregor but the Irishman insisted the fight was going his way before he broke his leg. " That fight was going only one way. I had the quad chewed up," McGregor wrote.
"He was in space the last fight, he didn't know where he was when giving his speeches and interviews. The stand up was even, he landed not one shot. Look at the velocity of the shots coming at him. He was in space post-fight. Smelly brown writing a novel post fight so they please god won't have to go through it again, but they will have to. Think goat fed to god."
McGregor is hoping to bypass the UFC's mandatory six month drug-testing policy to make his return in the first few months of 2023, but it's unlikely that he will be able to as all signs point to a summer comeback fight. The Irishman also predicted that his UFC rivals will be in no rush to fight him when he returns to the cage.
"I've beat everyone I've fought multiple times in the UFC. I'm the boss of the business. Let them lie to themselves. They'll be forced into another one, they can't run. Well, I suppose they could but they won't. They are goers in fairness so respect that but no mistake, they're not looking forward to it," he added.
