Don'Tale Mayes derailed a historic night in Andrei Arlovski’s career on Saturday when he took out the former heavyweight champion at UFC on ESPN 45.
Mayes (10-5 MMA, 3-3 UFC) registered the most notable win of his career thus far when he timed a huge punch that dropped and led to the stoppage of Arlovski (34-22 MMA, 23-16 UFC) at the UFC Apex in Las Vegas.
It was a competitive fight through the first and opening portions of the second round. Mayes found his range, however, and loaded up on a shot that got the job done in Arlovski’s 40th UFC fight – the second in history to hit that mark along with Jim Miller).
