Jamie Pickett needed to hold on for a fraction of a second for his UFC Fight Night 201 co-main event with Kyle Daukaus to make it beyond the first round. But he couldn’t do it.

Caught in a D’Arce choke by Daukaus (11-2 MMA, 2-2 UFC) in the closing moments of the 195-pound catchweight fight at the UFC Apex in Las Vegas, Pickett (13-7 MMA, 2-3 UFC) made the stunning decision to tap out just as the horn was sounding to mark the end of the round.

It was a surprising end to the fight, but not a shocking result. Daukaus was dominating the action up until the point of the submission, and it just made his night easier.
