UFC champion Israel Adesanya open to WWE cameo appearances after merger

UFC middleweight champion Israel Adesanya has said that he would be willing to do a one-off appearance in WWE after they were bought out by the MMA promotion's parent company.

Adesanya is a knockout artist known as much for his promo ability as his skills in the cage, that have seen him become a two-time middleweight champion. And with his size, he would be a perfect fit for professional wrestling, although he isn't keen for a full-time move to the squared circle.

He recently spent time at the Puerto Rico home of Logan Paul, who has transferred from YouTube star into fighter and now into a successful WWE career. And while he was impressed by Paul's high-flying stunts, he wasn't eager to make the full move into wrestling as a second career.

“That was family time back in the day," Adesanya remembered during a recent appearance on The MMA Hour after being made aware of a callout by WWE legend Paul Heyman. "I’ll do one-off. I love the WWE, WWF back in the day - that was my era, the Attitude era.

"But for me, it’s not going to be a staple thing because I like to be the writer to my own story. I'll do a couple cameos. I'll come from under the ring or whatever, just appear - but to be a guy that is in there and then have someone write my story, and I'm this, I'm that; I feel like it's just not my forte. But I'll do a few cameos."

And Adesanya did commit to attending the promotion's biggest annual show WrestleMania, which takes place at a different American stadium every April. Next year's festivities will take place in Philadelphia, and the UFC star is eager to make an appearance if even from the crowd

"I also want to go to a WrestleMania," he added. "Me and my family want to go to a WrestleMania one time and that's a fact. Next year in Phily? I've been to Philly I'll go to that. I'd do it [show up in WWE] but it's not going to be a thing where after this I do it when I'm done UFC fighting. I've never been to [a wrestling show]."
