After an impressive showing in his most recent outing, Amir Albazi will get an opportunity to jump up the flyweight rankings.
Albazi (15-1 MMA, 3-0 UFC) meets former title challenger Alex Perez (23-7 MMA, 5-3 UFC) at a UFC Fight Night event on Dec. 17. The card doesn’t yet have an announced venue or location.
Both fighters confirmed the news on social media after an initial report from MMA Fighting.
Albazi, 28, is off to a 3-0 octagon start and is on a four-fight winning streak overall. The Iraqi fighter notched his ninth career submission win when he choked out Francisco Figueiredo in the first round at UFC 278.
Perez will look to snap a two-fight skid. After winning three straight, Perez earned a title shot, but was submitted by flyweight champion Deiveson Figueiredo in Round 1 at UFC 255. He returned at UFC 277 against Alexandre Pantoja in July, but suffered another quick submission loss.
