LAS VEGAS – Lightweight stars Tony Ferguson and Paddy Pimblett had no issues on the scale Friday during the official UFC 296 weigh-ins.
Pimblett (20-3 MMA, 4-0 UFC) weighed in first at the UFC Apex. He came in at 155.5 pounds, followed by Ferguson (25-9 MMA, 15-7 UFC), who hit the same 155.5-pound mark. The two fighters compete Saturday at T-Mobile Arena as part of the event’s main card.
Both fighters seemed to be in good spirits despite their weight cut. Pimblett was pleasant and cordial to Nevada Athletic Commission executive director Jeff Mullen. Ferguson let out a shout of excitement as he exited the stage.
During the lead-up to Saturday’s lightweight bout at T-Mobile Arena, Ferguson has vented frustration with Pimblett and promised to “cut him” when they fight. Pimblett has largely shrugged off the verbal jabs as “Tony being Tony.” The mixture of the two approaches blended into an interesting faceoff.
