NEW YORK – The UFC is one step closer to crowning a new light heavyweight champion after Jiri Prochazka and Alex Pereira made weight ahead of UFC 295.
Prochazka (29-3-1 MMA, 3-0 UFC) and Pereira (8-2 MMA, 5-1 UFC) are set to clash for the vacant belt in Saturday’s headliner at Madison Square Garden, and the matchup is now official after both men hit their contracted marks at weigh-ins.
Former middleweight king Pereira, who looks to join the exclusive club of two-division champs, registered at 204 pounds on the scale at the host hotel during Friday’s official weigh-in session. Former divisional titleholder Prochazka, who returns from an injury that forced him to vacate the strap, weighed in shortly after at 204.2 pounds.
