SYDNEY – Champion Israel Adesanya and challenger Sean Strickland were professional on the scale as they made weight Friday for the UFC 293 headliner.
Adesanya (24-2 MMA, 13-2 UFC) will attempt to make the first defense of his second middleweight title reign on Saturday when he puts the belt on the line against Strickland (27-5 MMA, 14-5 UFC) in the pay-per-view headliner at Qudos Bank Arena. Prelims air on ESPNews and stream on ESPN+.
After many words exchanged prior to the contest, Adesanya and Strickland needed one final requirement in making weight. They did so, with Adesanya registering at 184.8 pounds, while Strickland stepped on the scale at 184.9 after stripping down naked with the hoop covering him.
