NEW YORK – Arguably the most hyped match at UFC 281 now is official after lightweight contenders Dustin Poirier and Michael Chandler made weight.
Poirier (28-7 MMA, 20-6 UFC), a former interim UFC champion, and Chandler (23-7 MMA, 2-2 UFC), a three-time Bellator titleholder, had no issues on the scale Friday when they weighed in at the UFC host hotel in New York. Madison Square Garden hosts Saturday’s card, which airs on pay-per-view following prelims on ESPNews and ESPN+.
It was a smooth weigh-in for both, by all appearances. Chandler came to the scale about 10 minutes into the two-hour window and tipped the scale at 155.8 pounds. Poirier registered at 156. Watch the video above to see Poirier and Chandler weigh in for the UFC 281 featured bout.
Poirier will return to action from an 11-month layoff following a title shot against then-champ Charles Oliveira in December 2021. Chandler will attempt to earn back-to-back wins in the UFC for the first time following his Knockout of the Year candidate over Tony Ferguson in May.
