Uefa refused Rangers tifo for Europa League final despite Frankfurt being allowed huge display

Uefa refused Rangers tifo for Europa League final despite Frankfurt being allowed huge display

UEFA refused Rangers the opportunity to have a tifo in their section of the Ramon Sanchez-Pizjuan Stadium for the Europa League final last night.

The refusal comes after Frankfurt fans showed off a stunning display in their end of the arena prior to kick-off.

The Germans also let off pyrotechnics during the second-half as they protested against Uefa.

Rangers chiefs were in discussions with the European football governing body up until lunchtime on the day of the game about a possible tifo for fans, but the request was rejected.

The Ibrox club narrowly missed out on winning the Europa League as Frankfurt ran out winners in a penalty shootout.

Joe Aribo had given Giovanni van Bronckhorst's side the lead before Rafeal Borre levelled the match with 20 minutes reaming.

Ryan Kent had a huge opportunity to win the game in the dying stages of extra-time, but an Aaron Ramsey missed spotkick proved costly, as the Germans ran out winners.
