UEFA issues apology to Liverpool supporters but Champions League final 'late arrival' claim ignored
UEFA have finally apologised to Liverpool and Real Madrid supporters for "distressing events" at the Champions League final as they revealed the scope of the review into the chaos.

But the governing body has not specifically said sorry for their initial assertion last Saturday's match at the Stade de France was delayed "due to the late arrival of fans", a claim from which they backtracked later that evening.
On Friday morning, Real Madrid joined Liverpool in demanding answers from UEFA and the French authorities over the trouble, stating their supporters were left "helpless and defenceless" from being attacked following the match.
UEFA, which announced an independent report earlier this week, has now said they will contact fan groups connected to Liverpool and Real for feedback as part of the review. Liverpool, though, are calling for a proper investigation rather than a review having have now received more than 6,500 accounts from fans who were caught up in the events.

Camping chairs, foldable tables, life-size cutouts of the Queen and lots of food took over dozens of streets in Merseyside as people celebrated Queen Elizabeth II's Platinum Jubilee. The UK is in the middle of a special and extended bank holiday weekend as the Queen becomes the only British monarch to rule for 70 years.
While most street parties are scheduled to take place on Saturday and Sunday, a number were kicking off earlier.

Mum 'dragged to floor' and brutally arrested by French police as kids screamed
A Liverpool mum has described how she was brutally arrested by French police in Paris in front of her terrified children.
Crosby based high-school teacher Natalie, 33, who wished to be identified by her first name, had spent the day in the Liverpool FC fan-park with her children, aged 16 months, six and eight, and her adult step-daughter, 25, while husband Gareth attended the Champions League final.
The couple said their family trip turned into a traumatic experience when an angry and aggressive police officer began shoving 5ft tall Natalie, before dragging her to the ground and placing her in handcuffs. Natalie spent the night and following morning in custody in a cell with a "filthy" toilet while detectives accused her of punching a police officer in the face, a claim she says was "nonsense".
