UCD defender John Ryan has signed a one year deal with Serie A club Sassuolo.
Ryan, 18, is the seventh young Irish starlet to move to Italy in recent times, following in the footsteps of his former Belfield colleague Liam Kerrigan.
The Limerick-born Ireland under-19 international joined UCD from Shamrock Rovers in the close season, having previously played for St Kevin's Boys.
The full-back was a sub in the Premier Division basement club's FAI Cup second round victory over Galway last Friday and was in Italy yesterday to tie up the move, which includes the option of another year if things go to plan.
He joins Kerrigan (Como), Kevin Zefi (Inter Milan), Cathal Heffernan (AC Milan), James Abankwah, Festy Ebosele (both Udinese) and Aaron Connolly (Venezia) in Italy.
It is expected that Ryan will join Sassuolo's second team for now.
