Ubisoft Confirms 'Ghost Recon: Wildlands Definitive Edition' Coming to PS5, Xbox Series S/X

A new official "Ghost Recon: Wildlands" release has quietly appeared on PS5 and Xbox Series X storefronts, with Ubisoft rolling out a Definitive Edition of the 2017 shooter nearly a decade after its original launch.

Ubisoft has yet to reveal a new "Tom Clancy's" or "Ghost Recon" game as it is currently preoccupied with IPs like "Assassin's Creed" and others, but the studio fills this gap with a re-release of one of its most popular action-shooter titles in franchise history.

Ubisoft Confirms 'Ghost Recon: Wildlands Definitive Edition' to PS5, Xbox

Official store pages on PS5, Xbox Series X, and PC were updated as of earlier this month, listing "Ghost Recon: Wildlands Definitive Edition" at $99.99.

The bundle includes the Season Pass, Year 2 Pass, "Narco Road," "Fallen Ghosts," Quick Start Pack, Deluxe Pack, and two new content packs called "Nightfall Protocol" and "Cold Eye," both scheduled to arrive in-game this August.

According to the store listing from Ubisoft, "Nightfall Protocol" includes four characters, seven accessories, two parachutes, and four weapons, while "Cold Eye" adds another four characters, three accessories, one parachute, and four more weapons.

Both are described as equipment and character packs rather than new story content, meaning they are separate from the previously rumored "Last Rites" mission that has circulated among fans.

The listing was first discovered by a Reddit user, showing the modern gaming platform port appear on the Xbox storefront.

Ubisoft Re-releases One of the Best 'Tom Clancy's' Game

"Ghost Recon: Wildlands" originally launched on March 7, 2017, placing players in a fictional open world version of Bolivia controlled by the Santa Blanca cartel. The game broke from the traditional "Ghost Recon" formula by leaning heavily into open-world freedom and four-player co-op.

The renowned game later expanded with the "Narco Road" and "Fallen Ghosts" expansions, "Ghost War PvP," and various crossover content over roughly two years of post-launch support.

Despite being followed by "Ghost Recon: Breakpoint" in 2019, "Wildlands" has held onto a loyal player base, with many fans still preferring its grounded cartel setting over "Breakpoint's" more sci-fi-leaning premise. The game continues to maintain solid player counts even at nearly a decade old, occasionally outperforming its more recent successor.

What and When to Expect From Upcoming Port?

Beyond the confirmed Definitive Edition bundle, Reddit posts point to promotional images on the Xbox game hub suggesting a larger technical upgrade is also coming.

According to GameRant, "Wildlands" on PS5 and Xbox Series X could soon receive 4K resolution support, 60 FPS gameplay, and the rumored "Last Rites" mission, all reportedly planned for early August.

However, Ubisoft has not officially confirmed any of these upgrades, and the current PS5 store listing still identifies the release as a PS4 version running through backward compatibility rather than a native current-gen port.

It also remains unclear whether existing "Wildlands" owners will receive a free upgrade path or whether purchasing the Definitive Edition separately will be required.

The timing of this re-release has led some fans to speculate it could be part of a broader effort to renew interest in "Ghost Recon" ahead of a future announcement.
