Ubisoft confirms Assassin's Creed Black Flag Resynced reveal showcase as it clowns on its own "worst-kept secret"

There's going to be a reveal showcase for Assassin's Creed Black Flag Resynced later this week. I know, you've probably already heard that fact several times across the internet recently, but we have just passed an important milestone for the event: Ubisoft itself has just confirmed that it's happening.

The Assassin's Creed Black Flag Resynced worldwide reveal showcase will be broadcast on April 23 at 9am PT / 12pm ET / 5pm BST on Ubisoft's YouTube channel.

In a social media teaser for the reveal, Ubisoft teasingly acknowledges that this is "gaming's worst-kept secret," and it's tough to argue otherwise. Rumors about the Black Flag remake have been circulating since at least 2023, and Ubisoft eventually acknowledged the project this past March in the least ceremonious way possible: a footnote in a blog post confirmed the title.

Even this upcoming reveal event has the subject of multiple reports and rumors over the past handful of weeks, but it seems we can finally put the speculation to bed as we learn what this game actually looks like.

Hopefully, it'll be worth the wait. Assassin's Creed 4: Black Flag originally launched in 2013, and has since become one of the most beloved entries in the series. With that strong base, Ubisoft has room to build an excellent remake, but it's all about the execution.

Black Flag passed me by in its day as, despite generally enjoying the previous Assassin's Creed games, I felt so burned by the ending of 3 that I needed to take a break from the series for a bit. Maybe Resynced will be the thing that finally gets me on board, but if I'm being honest with myself, I'll probably just end up using its release as an excuse to go back and play the original instead.

These are the best Assassin's Creed games.
